American Red Cross First Aid for Severe Trauma® (FAST™) – Blended Learning

The American Red Cross First Aid for Severe Trauma® (FAST™) course prepares participants to recognize and respond to life-threatening bleeding emergencies until professional responders arrive.

Participants learn how to:

  • Recognize life-threatening bleeding
  • Take appropriate emergency action
  • Maintain personal and scene safety
  • Communicate effectively during an emergency
  • Control severe bleeding using direct pressure
  • Properly apply a tourniquet

This course is delivered in a blended-learning format, combining approximately 90 minutes of online coursework with an instructor-led 45-minute hands-on skills and scenario session.

FAST™ is a national STOP THE BLEED® course developed through the American Red Cross and partner organizations. Although originally designed with high-school students in mind, the course is appropriate for participants of varying ages and backgrounds who want practical bleeding-control skills.

Successful participants receive an American Red Cross First Aid for Severe Trauma® completion credential.

This course is an excellent option for schools, workplaces, community organizations, public-safety personnel, coaches, camp staff, and anyone who wants to be better prepared for a serious traumatic bleeding emergency.

In-Person Skills Session

The in-person skills session is scheduled for approximately 2 hours. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early and allow an additional 15–20 minutes if needed for skills practice, assessment, remediation, or course completion requirements.
