American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers (CPRO)
The American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers (CPRO) course prepares professional-level rescuers to recognize and respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over.
This course is designed for individuals with a duty to act, including lifeguards, EMS and public-safety personnel, healthcare professionals, athletic and recreation staff, and others who may be expected to provide professional-level emergency care.
Course content includes:
- Rapid patient assessment
- Ventilations using a resuscitation mask
- Two-rescuer bag-valve-mask ventilation
- Adult, child, and infant CPR
- AED use
- Single-rescuer, two-rescuer, and multiple-rescuer team response
- Care for responsive and unresponsive choking emergencies
The Red Cross currently offers CPRO in both instructor-led and blended-learning formats. In blended learning, participants complete assigned online coursework before attending an instructor-led hands-on skills session.
Upon successful completion of all required course components, participants receive an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers digital certification. Red Cross digital certificates can be accessed, printed, shared, and verified online.
Designed for security personnel, law enforcement, corrections, recreation staff, coaches, camp personnel, and other professionals with a duty to respond to medical emergencies.

In-Person Skills Session
The in-person skills session is scheduled for approximately 2 hours. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early and allow an additional 15–20 minutes if needed for skills practice, assessment, remediation, or course completion requirements.

Complete the knowledge-based portion of the course online at your own pace, then attend a scheduled instructor-led skills session for hands-on practice, evaluation, and certification.
